In the beginning, slot machines were a coin only operated game. Throughout the years IGT (international gaming technologies) has been the leader in gaming technology advancement. They have added features to their games such as upgraded sound systems, video displays, embedded bill acceptors with four way acceptance and of the most recent additions is the ability to use a ticket printing system to cash out. This ticket printing system was not available on the IGT S-plus and PePlus models due to lack of communications between the game and the printer. This was later introduced in the S2000 series games in a system known as TITo or ticket in ticket out. TITO gives players the ability to insert cash, play a game, and when ready to cash out the player would then receive a ticket with the value of their winnings. This ticket can then be used in another game by inserting into the bill acceptor or redeamed at a cashier or ticket redemption machine.

The idea of having a ticket printer on slot machines became standard among most major casinos. There was only one drawback to small casinos, the cost of TITO systems is very high. Most small casinos that operate slot machines still operate the older IGT S-Plus + PePlus on a coin based system. These casinos even operate the newer S2000, Vision, IGame, IGame Plus and Game King models on coins as well. Being that most of the games the 2nd hard distributors receive have the printers removed and hoppers installed. They have had little to no alternative to this situation for some time until now.

It's called this because it converts coin hopper operated slot machines into slot machines that print a ticket. These HCU's have a module that plugs into the hopper that counts down the credits and then sends the information to the slot machine printer. These slot machines use the ICT GP58-CR thermal printer which can be programmed with a variety of text logos. Unlike the slot machine printers used in the TITO system which operate most commonly with ithica, future logic, trasact printers, this printer will not give you the ticket in feature.

This slot machine ticket printer offers the advantage of coinless cashout while still being able to input coins and bills. It also reduces service due to coin related issues and empty hoppers therefore increasing play time and income. This slot machine ticket printer comes with (1) HCU which plugs into the slot machines hopper receptacle, (1) power supply to power the HCU, and the slot machine ticket printer (ICT GP-58CR), (1) 7ft shielded printer harness which is wired from the HCU to the ICT GP-58CR thermal printer.
